Blog Post #13- Practicing Angles

 Practicing angles

To practice different angles/shots I want to use for my film, I had my sister and my mom do different blocking while I took photos them to practice my angle I want to use in my film. I will describe what each of the shots will be used for and why I chose these shots when creating my storyboard.

My first angle is this mid two shot of my mother and sister at our front door. This shot is going to be used when Lacy kicks Steve out of her house meaning in this shot my sister is blocking for Lacy and my mother is blocking for Steve. The reason I wanted to make it a mid shot is so I could show both of their body language after their breakup and really show the act of Lacy kicking out Steve. In my finial shot I want to make is a video of lacy opening the door and pushing Steve out but to practice my angles I just took a photo.

For my next angle itIs a shot of Lacy looking out the window seeing what's out there making a sound. I messed up when trying to do this angles, I wish I took it from a lower angle or something to try to get rid of the glare. I also wish you could see the actor better because it doesn't really look like anything's there. Maybe when I add lighting and it'll be in the right setting it will help clear up my issues. I like this shot because it shows you the point-of-view of the stalker. I used my mother in this shot to act as Lacy looking out the window.

For my next angle I did the scene where the neighbor comes over to complain about noises being heard at night. I use my mom as Lacy's mom who I will use in the final as well and then I had my sister stand as the random neighbor coming over and complaining about noise. I chose to do an over the shoulder shot that way you know the mom is there answering the door and then you are able to see the neighbor.

For the next shot I practiced I did it of Lacy setting up her trap. I haven't decided if I want to have a bear trap kind of trap or a hole in my yard but I do not have a prop of the bear trap yet so I just had my mom act like he was digging a hole. In the Final Cut I may use just cuts to show the hole getting deeper and deeper without taking up that much time that way my film can look more technical. I had my mom act like Lacy digging the hole in this practice I decided to do a long shot from the back that way you can see the hole and Lacy.

For my finial shot I practiced, I did the shot of lacy waiting for someone or something to fall into her trap. To do this I had my mother act as Lacy and hide behind trees and bushes we have in our front yard because I will be filming at my house. I did this kind of shot because it lets you see how she's hiding and what she's hiding behind.
