Blog Post #36- Filming #8
Filming #8
For this shot I did a pan from the snow globe that was going on in the middle of the night. I pan from the snow globe to my main character. Lacy, who is laying in bed. When filming the scene I had to add in some sort of lighting so I propped up my actor mylah‘s phone, where a nightlight would be to add some more lighting into the scene and I filmed this as a mid shot because I felt like it would show the scenery of where she is.
For the shot it was the conversation where Lacy and Bella first got together after a long time. I still miss as a two shot just showed both characters body language. When filming the scene, my dog was sitting on the couch next to my actor mylah when she randomly got up and sat in the middle of them which didn’t ruin one of the takes, but it worked out in the end and lead to a really cute shot. During the shot I needed to pan from where mylah was sitting to her getting up and looking out the window. This need to be one continuous take where rule of thirds was followed and my camera wasn’t that shaky. I followed rule of thirds, and ended up with a very nice shot with camera movement. Now looking back at this shot, you can see the bear trap in the back but we’re just gonna treat that as an Easter egg foreshadowing what is gonna happen with the bear trap.
This shot was a follow up shot after the one where Lacy went and looked out the window. I got this idea for a shot in a previous video I wanted when researching camera angles. I really wanted to put in this shot because I feel like it follows the rule of thirds and focuses on something which I think are very important in cinematography. We have lights in our bushes outside, and I like the way that they kind of shined in on the tree. I also added in some light on the inside, so that you could see my main character looking out the window.
