Blog Post #40- Filming #12
Filming #12
In the shot, I did a tracking shot of my main character, Lacy, walking to set up the bear trap in the yard. I films. This is a wide shot because it allowed the location of where she is putting the bear trap to be seen and that’s a very important part for what about to come. I decided to continue this as a tracking shot because it kept her more in frame while also showing what the scenery needed to give for the rest of the shot. I did have to add lighting into the scene because you couldn’t see where the bear trap was because it was so dark and it blended in. In the window I had a prop up this big light onto a chair which did take some trial and error. at one point it was shining into my neighbors window. It was late at night when I had to film this so I didn’t want to be shining into their window while they’re trying to sleep. As always rule of thirds has been followed, because it keeps my characters as the focal points.
For this next shot is just a continuous shot to show where Lacey is walking to set up the bear trap. I found the shot because I didn’t know how my time was going to be and I wanted to be in a decent time range around two minutes while not exceeding it in this shot. Also helped to give the audience member some idea of where she was going and how she got from one place to another and it wasn’t just skipping around. For this shot in particular, I did not add any extra leading into it, but I did have the light that was in the outside a little more light. I saw the roof thirds for the shot because it really kept the tree and my main character as a focal points because I also one of the tree to be seen because that becomes more of an important later in the opening scene.
